There is a Problem With Your Library Record. Please See a Librarian.

After trying to request the book Coop from my library online, this is the message I got...

There is a problem with your library record. Please see a librarian.

Well just slap my wrist, why don't you.

I don't have any overdue books.

I paid extra money to be a gold card member.

I've never written in or spilled coffee on a library book.

I didn't dog-ear any pages.

Certainly it's not because I have too many books on hold...

On Hold:

My Grammar and I-- or Should That be "Me"? : How to Speak and Write it Right / Caroline Taggart, J.A

Learning to See Creatively / Bryan Peterson

This is Where We Live / Janelle Brown

Understanding Exposure : How to Shoot Great Photographs with a Film or Digital Camera / Bryan Peters

Still Missing / Chevy Stevens

The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake / Aimee Bender

My Name is Mary Sutter / Robin Oliveira

All Over the Map / Laura Fraser

Pray for Silence / Linda Castillo

The One that I Want / Allison Winn Scotch

Beachcombers / Nancy Thayer

Bonobo Handshake : A Memoir of Love and Adventure in the Congo / Vanessa Woods

Zoo Story: Life in the Garden of Captives

As Husbands Go / Susan Isaacs

The Drowning River : a Mystery in Florence / Christobel Kent

Hidden Things

Corduroy Mansions / Alexander McCall Smith

Father of the Rain / Lily King

The Shallows : What the Internet is Doing to our Brains / Nicholas Carr

Little Girl Blue : the Life of Karen Carpenter / Randy L. Schmidt ; foreword by Dionne Warwick

Awkward Family Photos / Mike Bender and Doug Chernack

I Will Carry You : the Sacred Dance of Grief and Joy / Angie Smith

Messages : Signs, Visits, and Premonitions from Loved Ones Lost on 9/11 / Bonnie McEneaney

Career Opportunities in the Sports Industry / Shelly Field (this one is for my son)

Ransomed dreams / Sally John

The following books are checked out:

Girl in Translation / Jean Kwok

The Faith: What Christians Believe, Why they Believe it, and Why it Matters / Charles Colson

Beneath the Lion's Gaze / Maaza Mengiste

The Genius in all of Us / David Shenk

Could that be it? I have too many books on hold?

That I'm going to be bombarded with books should be punishment enough. (What was I thinking?)

Have you ever requested this many books from your library? Does your library have a limit? Have you ever been in "library trouble?"

What about the books? Have you read any of these or are there any you'd like to read?

I must admit that I have never had this many books on hold at the library...but what does it matter, it's not like you have that many checked out. That is interesting. My Name is Mary Sutter is one that has caught my eye recently.

I know, you're right. I don't have that many checked out. And they're not all going to come available at the same time, so... I don't know. Maybe I should ask what the problem is?? LOL

I had like 15 holds at one time and 8 of them all came in the same week...talk about overload!! I've never received a message like that though. I didn't think you could request too many!!! LOL!! Each of them sounds pretty interesting. I love looking at the different books you want to read!

The only good thing about it is that it makes me read when I'd rather do something else at the moment, like watch TV or something. READ, LYNNE, READ! Before the avalanche of books comes crashing down on your head :)

Crazy, I can't believe the library has a hold limit! I don't think ours does, but maybe there is and I just haven't hit it yet. I hope you're able to get a copy of Coop sometime! I've also got The Shallows on my TBR list - I bought it for my nook, since it seemed like a good book for an ereader.

You troublemaker you!!! Maybe they want to be sure you don't take all of their books. Hope it gets resolved in your favor!

I know, I am such a troublemaker :) I have 7 books ready for me right now. They probably know I'm not going to be able to read all those in the 2 week time frame.

I get that same message when I've capped out on reserves and try to add more :)

Lynne...you read some great books in June, but see you DNF Middlesex? That was an all time favorite of mine.

Diane, I read 150 pages and nothing was happening. It was so slow and torturous for me!

We can hold 30 books, and I'm always up to 30 (though some are DVD). Right now, I have 7 items ready to be picked up (5 DVD).

I've read Understanding Exposure, it's a good introductory book to photography. I read it years ago though (i have a small photography business).

I have Still Missing on hold as well

My limit must be 25 since that's what I have right now :)

It had absolutely nothing to do with the number of books out or on hold!
The problem that was being referred to wasn't actually a problem. I just had to do the annual (or is it bi annual) update thing, which is just confirming that they have the correct address and phone number on file! That is probably all it is!
