It's Monday! Time for my favorite meme. Sheila from One Person's Journey Through a World of Books hosts this fun meme.
Last week:
Jantsen's Gift (Great book! Need to review)
Orphan Trains of Missouri
Saving Gracie: How One Dog Escaped the Shadowy World of American Puppy Mills
Reviewed:
This Book is Overdue
Gave up on:
Web of Secrets
Currently Reading:
Birth Day: A Pediatrician Explores the Science, the History, and the Wonders of Childbirth (really enjoying this one about birth and babies)
Ready to pick up at library:
Trauma Junkie: Memoir of an Emergency Flight Nurse
When Dad Killed Mom
Stiff: The Curious Lives of Human Cadavers
The Little Prisoner: A Memoir
Shattered Silence: The Untold Story of a Serial Killer's Daughter
Okay, now those really sound like uplifting reads, huh?! Three of those titles I got because of our host Sheila's Social Justice Challenge post on Domestic Violence and Child Abuse. Natasha at Maw Books hosts this challenge. Each month they focus on a different theme and I happened to be interested in the Domestic Violence and Child Abuse theme. I saw this list of books and just couldn't control myself. My mom is a nurse, and I had worked as a medical secretary since I was 17 and have always been fascinated by medical science, criminology, psychology, psychiatry and sociology. Does that explain my depressing and morbid list of books?

Haha, they don't sound uplifting at all.... but your life certainly explains it. I hope that you find them really interesting!
Sounds like a heavy couple of weeks coming up! But for a good reason! I think I'm going to have to read This Book is Overdue after reading your review!
Lynne - I read Jantsens Gift last fall and LOVED it! I am so excited to see it on your blog and am anxious for your review. I cried reading that one!
I also still have your book you won on my kitchen table - I am so late in mailing it..... I will get it out over the next couple days.
I think Web of Secrets is in my TBR pile, now I am worried. I think the books you chose for the challenge sound interesting and look forward to your thoughts. If you get time, my Monday: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/04/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-5-april.html
Ooh, Shattered Silence caught my attention!
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Have a great week.
I loved Stiff!! Hope you enjoy it..seems weird wishing you enjoyment about a book that deals with dead people doesn't it??? LOL!!
Have a great week of reading!
I've been meaning to check out This Book is Overdue. I use and appreciate my library so much!
Here is my Monday: http://thelostentwife.net/2010/04/04/its-monday-what-are-you-reading-15/
Have a good week ahead! You do have some 'dark' books ahead, but better read a rewarding book than a light non-sense book. :)
I liked your review of This Book is Overdue. I'm definitely going to have to read it. And, while your list for this week does look a bit depressing, I bet you'll learn a lot! Happy reading, and thanks for stopping by my blog!
I'm very intrigued by Shattered Silence by the way
just found your blog, and now I'm a new follower :)
Wow - your week sounds great, but difficult. Good luck :)

Wow, it looks like you have a heavy week ahead of you! Looking forward to what you think of these books.
I love your blog header pic! So cute :o) It looks like you're going to be tackling some tough to read books this week but I'll be interested to see what you think of both of these
I love that you read and review these types of books, it helps me with my choices!!
ooo...I can't wait to see what you thought of Jantsen's Gift. I am interested in that book.
I actually like your list of books, you have a variety of choices which means that is good for me. ;) Seeing how I get to filter them through you...to see if there is one I want to read. :)
Hope you have a great reading week.
Very intriguing titles you have there, running the gamut, so to speak.
Enjoy your books!
Trauma Junkie and Shatter Silence sounds intriguing. Happy reading!
I just had to respond to your comment about me reading Stiff!! I saw it at B&N one day and read what it was about and thought it sounded interesting. At one time I thought it would be a cool job to be a medical examiner..if I could be a cool one like Kay Scarpetta!!! So that is how I picked up this one!!
Quite a few of your choices appeal to me, Trauma Junkie, Birth Day, Stiff and I've heard so many good things about Jantzen's Gift. Have a wonderful week and happy reading!
