I Wonder...What Sign Are You? Are You An Introvert or Extrovert?

b918e9f12ab846125fdb03d9ffd26b18[2]

I don't believe in day-to-day astrological readings - Today someone will give you a lot of money (I wish) - but I think there's something to the characteristics of the signs people are born under.

I'm a Scorpio and am stubborn, passionate, loyal, and have few but close friends. I'm not shy, but I am reserved. I'm picky about who I get close to, but once you're my friend you're pretty much stuck for life.

I'm also an introvert. I always thought signs correlated with whether or not one is an introvert or extrovert, but my husband is also a Scorpio and he's an extrovert. He can handle being alone for about a day and that's it. Me, I would love to be stranded on a deserted island as long as I had books to read.

A psychologist once told me this: If you're an introvert your battery becomes depleted by being with people and is recharged by being alone. If you're an extrovert your battery becomes depleted by being alone and is recharged by being with people.

I want to know about you!

So for fun, tell me:

1) What is your astrological sign?
2) Are you an introvert or extrovert?
3) Do you think introverts are more likely to be readers than extroverts?

Hi Lynne - Aquarius. And I am a total introvert. I am with people for my job all day and when I get home I dont even want to talk on the phone. I love it when my husband goes on weekend snowmobile trips and I can have the house alone. He is an extrovert and does not understand that. :)

I think readers may tend to be more introverted. Not all of us, but I would think over half.
A person's nature is formed from more than their Sun sign qualities - in a natal chart there are ten planets which all have an influence which is why two people with the same sun sign can be very different.
I'm a Pisces - very introverted and crowds or too many people around I find exhausting. Like Sheila I enjoy the times my super extrovert hubby goes away and I can be all alone.

I think readers are probably more likely to be introverts.
Great question!
I
am a sagittarius - direct, intellectual, traveller and sportsperson. I think I could ackowledge the first two as being me, the third a little less so but I have done a fair bit of travelling. Im the opposite of a sportsperson though - more of a couch person.

I am definitely an introvert. I have some close friends and I am not very social otehrwise. I find it hard to make friends and talk to people I don't know.

And I do think that readers are more likely to be introverts as well. Simply because we are in our comfort zone when we are alone, and reading is a very solitary activity. Its almost like reading gives us what we have trouble doing ourselves. We can be social by reading about other people, rather than actually talking to them.

That's actually kind of sad when you think about it.
I am a Sagittarius, who according to the "stars"...LOL tend to be extroverts.

NOT ME....Introvert here! I love my alone time, and like you Lynne, would be very content alone as long as I had my books (and cats). I love the HUB (extrovert), but he is far more content being a homebody since we've been together these last 13 years.

When I am with lots of people, I dread it, and though I'm social when I with people, I am am totally mentally exhausted afterward.
Great question. I'm a cancer and match EVERY characteristic of a Cancer.

I'm also an introvert and love being alone. In fact I need to be alone or I feel 'off'. I love the comment from the pychologist above (makes sense to me).

I know plenty of extroverts who love to read so I'm not sure if I can pick one over the other.

I'm a Libra and I'm somewhat close to the description. And based on your definition, I am definitely an Introvert. I get really grumpy if I don't get my alone time.

I'm an Aries and am very much an Aries. It's probably not the nicest or the most reasonable sign. I'm definitely an extrovert but I love to read. I think that maybe we use books in different ways. Reading helps me to see things from other people's perspectives, which a typical selfish Aries will struggle with. I also use books in conversations and belong to five book clubs. I love talking about books with others!

Cool question and it's interesting to read everyone's responses. Thanks!
I'm a border day for Pisces and Aquarius...I'm extroverted!! Love people and meeting new ones, but after being with a crowd for a while I do tend to want to just spend alone time with a good book!

Great post! Being stranded on a desert island with books to be read would be paradise for me...so long at my hut was air conditioned! *L*

I'm a Taurus, and think I'm more of an introvert. My battery is definitely recharged by being alone! I tend to think introverts would be readers, but I've known a handful of extroverts that read just as much, so it's hard to say.

Awesome post !!! I'm a Leo !!! I am an introvert, I like my alone time very MUCH !!!
I believe that introverts are more likely to be readers than extroverts.

By the way I forwarded your blog onto a dear friend as I see she's now a follower of yours!!!

I am a Libra and am pretty much an introvert. I wasn't always that way though, I used to live for parties, events and all that hippy skippy stuff. Now, I can pull it off, but it wears me out completely.

Who needs a desert island, just turn off the phone, lock the door and raid the bookshelf!

That's funny, Gwen. Some of my closest friends are Libras, including my sister, who is also my best friend. And they were all like that at one point too. It's a good thing we all slow down a little as we get older. Otherwise, when would we ever READ? lol
I'm a Leo and an introvert, and it is strange to me that Leos are presumed to be loud and boisteroous. I can be that way around my closest friends, but for the most part, I love my alone time.

I don't think Leos are loud and boisterous, but definitely confident. I love that about them.
I am a Saggitarious and about as far on the introvert scale as one can get without being considered a hermit :) My brother is a scorpio and exhibits quite a few of the personality traits that you list.

I hope you plan to post a summary of these findings. I am most interested to hear the results!
Aquarius and an almost total introvert. In fact, since I've been laid off work, I'm about 4¾ inches away from becoming a hermit! Although I do know extroverted readers, the majority seem to be introverts like me.
I meant to come earlier and answer your questions, sorry! I'm a Cancer, which I've always thought fit me -- caring, homebody, that sort of thing. So its obvious I'm also an introvert. I don't mind people or giving speeches or anything like that, but at the end of the day I much prefer to spend some time reading or watching tv. I always have to decompress before I do anything after work to get my alone time.

Hi-- I found your blog via a convoluted path-- I"m following with my bookblog self and also following your photo blog with my everything else including photos blog. But I don't have a multiple personality disorder-- I'm just a virgo and must keep things organized. ;o) I really don't read many reviews but I love the musing posts on bookblogs--- I commented on the previous one as well.

So yes, I am very virgo-ish (analytical, practical, earthy, and can be overly critical) but I am more creative and artsy than is usually listed in virgo traits. I am very close to being a leo so may be why I am not as conservative as most virgos-- I am quite confident , flamboyant and even a show off-- maybe the leo influence?

As a kid I was introverted around strangers but very extroverted with family and friends--- As an adult, I am pretty much an extrovert-- I love meeting new people and can talk a mile a minute! But I love solitude too-- I don't really crave one situation over the over-- neither one makes me feel antsy. But I live very rural and have no visible neighbors so plenty of solitude...

In my experience I've had intro and extro friends who were regular readers--- how is that for diplomatic-- another virgo trait! (my comment was too long so I had to break it up-- apparently virgos are mouthy too)

Hi Lynne,
Your mom told me about this blog since I love to read and I love this topic. I am a Scorpio, as you know just like you but I am a extrovert, and like Larry, I am okay the first day, and then I am itching to surround myself with people. Thats why I love my business, I am surrounded by people all the time, my patients, their families, my staff, doctors and nurses. I need to feel that people are around. However, I read every single minute I can, but on the couch with the TV on and Jon talking to me....I also multitask very well, oh and I think I have ADD too! Great blog Lynne. I just got done with the book Look Again and LOVED it, and now the book club is reading South of Broad....have you read it and is it good?

Hi Cori! I haven't read Look Again or South of Broad, but I know about both of them and have heard they're good. How funny...I didn't know you liked to read and that you were in a book club!

You'll have to subscribe here so you can keep up to date with all my books. Right now I'm reading Ape House. . Just started it last night.
