Non-fiction book about, well, cadavers!
My Thoughts
My interests border on the morbid side, so I knew I'd enjoy this book. Roach's writing is witty and fun and somehow makes death and dying and bodies just a part of life.
Some things I found fascinating were:
- How forensic scientists can determine what caused a plane crash by looking at the bodies.
- How trained dogs can pinpoint the location of a corpse at the bottom of a lake by sniffing the water's surface for the gas that floats up from the rotting remains.
- What happens to bodies that are donated to science (plastic surgeon's learn their art of face lifts on cadaver heads).
- The scientific breakdown of a body at the time of death.
- The scientific breakdown of Jesus' death on the cross.
- The different experiments that have been done, including head transplants.
Yes, if you are interested in medicine and morgues :) This book really is fascinating. After my next review, though, of Trauma Junkie and The Little Prisoner, I MUST move on to lighter things!

I guess I'm slightly morbid as well, since this book appeals to me. I'm fascinated by all things CSI.

fredamans: Me too. I love CSI, and also 48 Hours, Dateline, True Crime. My husband thinks I'm so weird, but whole family likes those kinds of shows.
I know you said you'd move on to lighter things but I wonder if you really will :) I love your book choices!!!
I loved her book: Bonk, but am worried this one will be too ruesome for me. I do love CSI, but perhaps real life bodies are a bit more disturbing?
I can't wait to read this ... I just read "Spook" and it was terrific! Now just seeing what she covers in Still, I'm even more excited to read it.
